01/08 The Third Annual Mentor-Mentee Art Show at the Petaluma Mail Depot
01/08 Mayor's Proclamation was delivered at the city council meeting on January 7th, 2008, in honor of National Mentoring Month and MMP's contributions.
12/07 Mentor Me Petaluma Receives
Three Grants
- The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools has awarded a three-year grant to Mentor Me Petaluma which will total $560,000 over the three years. This very exciting opportunity will allow MMP to expand programming to new school sites and to populations of students that have not previously been included in mentoring.
- The Kimball Foundation of San Francisco has awarded a $10,000 grant to Mentor Me Petaluma to be used for general operating expenses. This enlightened approach to funding, as opposed to program-specific funding, will allow us to pay for office rent, mentor recruitment billboards, printing, postage and other operational needs.
- The 3M Foundation, through its 3M Petaluma office, has awarded a $2,500 grant to Mentor Me Petaluma, for the third consecutive year. These funds will allow MMP to continue its expansion into the junior high and high schools, where mentors are badly needed!
8/06 Mary Collins School at Cherry Valley joined the MMP family of schools this year. Stacey Almy, a parent of three children at the school, has volunteered to get the mentor center up and running and to coordinate the program this year. Stacey says, "I know the program will flourish at our school, as it has everywhere, and I am excited to help it grow. It is one more chance to save the world one child at a time. "
6/06 An Anonymous Donor has graciously presented Mentor Me Petaluma with a $75,000 donation this spring. Board members were delighted to be able to fund some crucial needs of the program.
12/05 Mentor Me Petaluma is proud to announce it has received a Health and Human Services grant from the Community Foundation Sonoma County in the amount of $25,000.00. Mentor Me Petaluma is currently serving 70 children at six Petaluma schools. This grant will make it possible to open two more Mentor Centers, at McKinley and McDowell Schools.
